Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that there are statements from the Turkish side to open channels for dialogue with Egypt, but words alone are not enough and must be accompanied by actions, as he put it.

He added that a change in Turkish policy, approach and objectives to be in line with Egyptian policies could constitute a ground for restoring normal conditions.

Positive Turkish signs

Turkey has recently issued a number of positive signals towards Egypt, especially since President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke last September about the possibility of his country conducting intelligence talks with Egypt at any time, and this statement came in response to a journalist's question about the existence of contacts with Egypt regarding It concerns the delimitation of areas of maritime jurisdiction in the eastern Mediterranean between the two countries.

A few days ago, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said that Ankara "can open a new page in its relations with Egypt and a number of Gulf countries."

In statements published by the American Bloomberg Agency, Qalan described Egypt as "the heart and mind of the Arab world, and it has an important role in the region."

On the issues that the two sides want to solve, Qalan explained, "We are interested in talking with Egypt about maritime issues in the eastern Mediterranean, in addition to other issues in Libya, the peace process and the Palestinian issue."

And Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced last December that his country and Egypt "are seeking to define a road map regarding their bilateral relations."
