Cottbus (dpa / bb) - The Cottbus State Theater started a 24-hour reading marathon on Saturday.

Until Sunday lunchtime, more than 100 employees of the theater read for a few minutes each day and night from the “Star Diaries” of the Polish novelist and philosopher Stanisław Lem (1921-2006) and send the audience on a journey through space.

The reading will be broadcast as a live stream from the Großer Haus on YouTube - in front of empty chairs.

Because of the Corona restrictions, the audience is not yet allowed to go back to the theater.

The federal government and the federal states had agreed that the houses would be able to open from March 22 at the earliest with a value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week below 100 with a negative test and below 50 without a test.

On March 16, a year ago, Brandenburg decided to close many shops, cinemas, theaters and museums due to the corona pandemic.

Many venues had previously stopped playing for the time being.

Since the beginning of this season, the Cottbus State Theater has had a new artistic director, Stephan Märki.
