Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Because of the corona pandemic, numerous employees in Rhineland-Palatinate work in the home office.

Many employees in the state government also make use of this option, as can be seen from the answer by the Interior Ministry to a request from the state parliament member Helga Lerch (non-attached).

In almost all ministries, the home office quota - i.e. the proportion of employees who do telework, mobile work or other home work - was over 50 percent at the beginning of January.

Only in the Ministry of Health (37 percent) and the Ministry of Finance (42 percent) was it lower.

The family ministry (73 percent), the education ministry (63 percent) and the interior ministry (62 percent) took the top three places in the home office quota.

In the State Chancellery, this figure was 56 percent.

The tables presented do not show any significant deviations compared with the first lockdown in spring 2020.

The Ministry of the Interior said that the employees of the state government had been offered the option of mobile work even before Corona, where the activity allowed this.

During the pandemic, existing technical structures were expanded again to create more home office options.

"In this respect, flexible working time models such as teleworking and mobile working will continue to exist even after the crisis due to the positive experience," emphasized State Secretary Randolf Stich (SPD).

It goes without saying that it should always be ensured that operations are maintained.
