Halle (dpa) - The handball players of the SV Union Halle-Neustadt have come a lot closer to their season goal relegation.

The team of coach Jan-Henning Himborn decided on Saturday the duel of the promoted players against HL Buchholz-Rosengarten with 27:24 (15:11) for themselves.

With the seventh win of the season, the team from Saxony-Anhalt now has six points ahead of the relegation place.

Goalkeeper Anica Gudelj (13 saves), Helena Mikkelsen (6 goals) and Sophie Lütke (6/2) stood out among the convincing hosts.

Sarah Lamp (6) and Kim Berndt (6/5) scored the most hits for Rosengarten.

The indoor women slept through the initial phase and were 1: 5 behind after seven minutes.

But then the SV Union laid the foundation for success primarily with a strong defensive performance with goalkeeper Gudelj at the top.

Halle equalized for the first time at 6: 6 (18th) and hurried to four goals before the break.

The hosts defended this lead until the final whistle and were always ahead in the second half.
