The Bolivian public prosecutor's office on Friday ordered the arrest of ex-interim president Jeanine Añez, for "sedition and terrorism" as part of an investigation into the events of November 2019 which led to the early departure of Evo Morales from the power.

Several of his government ministers and senior military officials at the time are also targeted by this arrest warrant.

The former justice minister and the former energy minister were both arrested by police on Friday afternoon March 12.

Other members of the former government should be arrested in the coming hours.

Six arrest warrants in total, issued against those who made up the interim, unelected government for instigating the

coup against Evo Morales

.

A “coup” that other citizens in Bolivia see as a resignation.

For one of the ministers arrested, Rodrigo Guzman, his rights were not respected: “

There is an arrest warrant against me for sedition and terrorism when in reality I have never received any notification.

But whatever, we will stand up and continue to be fierce opponents of this tyrannical government

.

"

An arrest warrant has also been issued against

former President Jeanine Añez

, also accused of having instigated the departure of Evo Morales on November 10, 2019.

Faced with these arrests, Bolivia is once again divided.

On the one hand those who consider that justice is simply doing its job and prosecute authorities who have violated the rules of democracy, on the other hand those who see it as political persecution.

Two former ministers, among the most important in the interim government at the time, have left Bolivian territory for months already, certainly to escape arrest.
