Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - Since mid-February, Hessian companies and self-employed people have received a total of 109 million euros in lockdown aid.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs announced in Wiesbaden on Saturday.

So far, discounts of the so-called bridging aid III in the amount of 75.7 million euros have been paid to companies and 33.3 million euros as restart aid to solo self-employed, according to Economics Minister Tarek Al-Wazir (Greens).

The state can now begin processing the applications, as the federal government has activated the relevant procedure.

The Ministry is concerned with approving the remaining amounts of Bridging Aid III that the companies will receive beyond the first installment payments.

The aid is vital for companies in sectors "that have been affected by the lockdown for a particularly long time and are in some cases still affected," said Al-Wazir.

With the exception of the advance payments transferred via the federal government, the funds are processed by the federal states, the ministry said.

In the case of November aid, 92 percent of the applications have now been fully processed and paid out, and 84 percent in December aid.
