On the morning of the 13th, in the first half of 2021, the qualification examination for primary and secondary school teachers started, and more than 80,000 candidates entered 49 test centers in the city.

"Out-of-campus candidates or on-campus candidates? Out-of-campus candidates go here." At 8 o'clock in the morning, candidates arrived at the test center of Beijing International Studies University one after another, and someone guided them to enter the venue in an orderly manner.

According to the epidemic prevention requirements, the school set the entrance of the qualification examination for primary and secondary school teachers at the south gate, and set up separate passages for off-campus and on-campus candidates.

Candidates outside of school must take their temperature, scan their health code, and present their ID card, admission ticket, and a 7-day negative nucleic acid test certificate; candidates at the test center school do not need to undergo nucleic acid test before the test, but they must provide a health statement and promise to be 14 before the test. Body temperature and health conditions were normal during the day.

Near the school gate, there are also two medical staff on standby. According to the school's arrangement, if a candidate's body temperature exceeds 37.3 degrees Celsius, they will be arranged to take a rest at the observation point and retest.

According to the Beijing Education Examination Institute, the written test for the qualification examination for primary and secondary school teachers is generally held in March and November each year.

Affected by the epidemic in 2020, the teacher qualification examination in the first half of the year was postponed to the second half of the year. The number of candidates reached a record high that year. There were 104,391 candidates in the city, an increase of 22.81% over the same period of the previous year.

A total of 82,328 candidates took part in this exam, and the popularity remains unabated.

In this regard, Chu Zhaohui, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences, analyzed that there are two factors behind the enthusiasm. Teachers training in subjects such as mathematics, English, physics, chemistry, and biology should have corresponding teacher qualifications.

On the other hand, affected by employment pressure and the professional attractiveness of teachers, more and more comprehensive university graduates also tend to find jobs in primary and secondary schools.

Chu Zhaohui observed that as far as Japan is concerned, the ratio of teachers with teacher qualification certificates to on-the-job teachers is 8:1. “In this way, there is no need to worry about not being able to hire good teachers in Japan.” He believes that for education In terms of development, it is of course a good thing for more and more people to take the teacher qualification examination, but at the same time, we must be soberly aware that the teacher qualification examination is only a primary threshold; the total number of outstanding teachers in our country is not enough.

"How to attract more and better people to be teachers still has a long way to go."
