Yesterday, the top lawyer at Uppsala District Court was arrested on suspicion of probable cause for a rape of a young female student.
The man was arrested and detained on Monday.
The suspected lawyer has held a number of senior positions in the judiciary and still holds a position in a heavy judicial institution.
The man denies the crime and says that "nothing has happened against the plaintiff's will", his lawyer Ola Salomonsson announced.
On Friday, he appealed the detention decision to the Svea Court of Appeal.
The same day came the news: the appeal is rejected.
In practice, this means that the man is kept in custody.
In its appeal, the defense demanded that the suspect be released immediately.
They denied that there were probable grounds for rape and that there were no grounds for detention.
The suspect also stated that he obviously did not intend to influence the investigation.
