Berlin (dpa / bb) - Construction sites should hinder rail traffic in Berlin and Brandenburg less this year than in the previous year.

Deutsche Bahn has promised this despite planned investments of millions.

Among other things, better planning should contribute to this, as well as additional construction infrastructure such as temporary bridges.

According to the company, 940 million euros will flow into tracks, switches, bridges and train stations in the region this year, 100 million euros more than in the previous year.

50 train stations and stops are to be modernized, including the main train stations in Berlin and Brandenburg / Havel, Berlin Ostbahnhof and the Eichwalde, Eisenhüttenstadt, Lauchhammer and Zeuthen stations.

250 kilometers of track will be laid, 130 points replaced and 26 bridges renovated, as announced by the railway.

This includes the expansion of the Berlin-Dresden railway line.

Two new tracks are being built for the Dresden Railway in the south of Berlin, which should shorten the journey time to Dresden and Willy Brandt Airport.

Tracks are being renewed on the Berlin-Hamburg ICE route.
