In addition to the development plans of 4 national-level forest city clusters, 66 new cities have been added to carry out national forest city construction, and 441 cities have carried out national forest city construction, and the construction of sponge cities has been continuously promoted.

The per capita green area of ​​parks in the city amounts to 14.8 square meters, and nearly 80,000 kilometers of green roads have been built nationwide.

  China is deeply advancing large-scale national land greening operations. The "Communiqué" shows that in 2020, a total of 6.77 million hectares of afforestation, 8.37 million hectares of forest tending, 2.83 million hectares of grassland improved, and 2.096 million hectares of sand prevention and control have been completed.

The natural forest protection project completed the construction task of 246,000 hectares, expanded the scope of natural forest protection to the whole country, and basically achieved the goal of protecting all natural forests.

  At the same time, the construction of the nature reserve system with national parks as the main body and the protection of wild animals and plants have been comprehensively strengthened, and the evaluation and acceptance of 10 national park system pilots including Sanjiangyuan have been carried out, and the pilot tasks of the national park system have been basically completed.

517 species (classes) of wild animals have been added to the list of national key protected wild animals, and pangolins have been upgraded to national first-level protected wild animals.   The "Communiqué" pointed out that China's forest area has grown steadily, with forest vegetation carbon storage of 9.186 billion tons, and the goal of "double increase" in forest area and forest stock volume promised to the outside world for 2020 has been fulfilled on schedule.
