Ehingen (dpa / lsw) - Due to corona outbreaks in seven schools and daycare centers in the Alb-Donau district, several hundred people had to be quarantined there.

As a spokesman for the district announced, an employee of a daycare center in Munderkingen was verifiably infected with a variant of the corona virus on Monday.

In a series of tests, an infection was also initially found in five children.

Around 50 children and five teachers and more than 130 other contact persons therefore had to be quarantined.

In Ehingen, a school and two daycare centers are affected by corona outbreaks.

Initially, twelve infections, some with a virus variant, were detected in the facilities.

Around 200 people were then placed in quarantine.

In a school and two daycare centers in Laichingen, a total of 13 corona infections were initially detected in both children and teachers.

Further tests and examinations for virus variants are still pending.

More than 100 kindergarten children, schoolchildren and teachers had to be quarantined.
