The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, affirmed "the fundamentals of Egypt's position based on the need to achieve a comprehensive political settlement of the crisis in Libya, which consolidates preservation of its unity, preserves the capabilities of its people, and guarantees the departure of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya."

This came during talks held yesterday by Minister Shoukry, during his current visit to Paris, with his German counterpart Heiko Maas, on the sidelines of the quadripartite meeting, which includes the foreign ministers of France, Germany, Egypt and Jordan, according to the official spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Hafez.

The spokesman said in a press statement that the meeting between the two ministers "comes within the framework of the two sides' keenness to periodically consult to push forward bilateral relations and exchange views on regional conditions and developments in the Renaissance Dam file."

He added that the meeting "witnessed an exchange of views on regional developments, including the Palestinian issue, and ways to maximize benefit from the quadripartite meeting held in Paris on the peace process, with the aim of working to create a favorable environment for the Palestinian and Israeli sides to engage in a comprehensive negotiation process."

During the meeting, the two ministers touched on the developments of the Libyan crisis, where Minister Shukry renewed Egypt's welcome to the interim government gaining the confidence of the House of Representatives for a transitional period, leading to the holding of elections on the set date at the end of this year, and at the same time they referred to Egypt's efforts to push the economic path to achieve the interest of the brotherly Libyan people. .
