Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Due to increasing corona infections, the retail trade in Rhineland-Palatinate may have to close again from Monday in some municipalities and districts and return to appointment shopping.

The nationwide incidence had just exceeded the crucial value of 50 for the first time on Thursday (50.7).

If the nationwide incidence is above 50 on Friday and Saturday, the municipalities with 50 incidences would have to withdraw the easing that has been in effect since Monday, said a spokesman for the State Chancellery on Thursday in Mainz on request.

Should the nationwide numbers drop below 50 again, trading can remain open under the strict conditions in force.

"If the seven-day incidence is over 50 on three consecutive days, safety mechanisms take effect," said the spokesman for the State Chancellery, explaining the regulation.

This was decided after the Prime Minister's video session with the Chancellor last week.

For the retail trade, this means appointment shopping.

The following applies: One customer on 40 square meters with appointments and contact tracking.

Restrictions in business, culture and sport are also possible, said the spokesman for the state chancellery.

"Details are regulated by the respective affected municipalities in general decrees."

A corresponding model general order, which can be used as a basis for a quick reaction to the infection, has already been sent to the central municipal associations for distribution to the municipalities.
