The third edition of the Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenges will give on June 8 a taste of the Tour de France with, for the first time, a double ascent of the Giant of Provence, announced Thursday its organizer Nicolas Garcera.

The following month, the Tour will also take the slopes of Ventoux twice, but will arrive in Malaucène, unlike the one-day race which ends at the top.

The event, which will be 155 kilometers long from Vaison-la-Romaine (Vaucluse), will present a positive elevation of 4,500 meters due mainly to the ascent, first by the slope of Sault then by the Bédoin slope.

"The arrival of the Tour is doing us a service," said Nicolas Garcera, both for the completion of the development work undertaken at the top and for the benefit of the teams: "The descent by the slope of Malaucène was not made. long in competition. "

The race was postponed by one day to take place two days after the end of the Critérium du Dauphiné, so as to leave a respite for the transfer to the riders wishing to follow up.

Now supported by the CIC for the next three years, the event will have a female version in 2022, its organizer also announced.

The Spaniard Jesus Herrada and the Russian Aleksandr Vlasov are the first two winners at the top of Ventoux.
