Metzingen (dpa) - The fashion group Hugo Boss wants to leave the Corona dent behind in 2021.

The company is assuming a significant increase in sales in the current year, as Hugo Boss announced on Thursday in Metzingen.

The operating result (EBIT) as well as the group result should increase significantly.

However, the group assumes that the corona pandemic will still have a significant impact on the first quarter.

In the further course of the year, however, business should recover noticeably.

Hugo Boss slipped into the red in connection with the 2020 corona pandemic.

The fashion group posted a net loss of 219 million euros, after a profit of 205 million a year earlier.

Before interest and taxes (EBIT) there was a loss of 236 million euros after an increase of 344 million in 2019. Sales fell by a third to 1.95 billion euros.

In the fourth quarter, business continued to lag significantly behind the previous year due to the ongoing negative effects of the pandemic.

In terms of EBIT, Hugo Boss achieved a positive figure of 13 million euros thanks to savings.

Sales fell by almost 30 percent.
