Infection continues to increase in the county.

The number of corona cases has increased in six of the county's nine municipalities.

During week 9, there were a total of 704 new covid cases in Sörmland.

This is an increase of 107 cases compared to week 8 when 597 cases were found.

This negative development is the main reason why the new councils will be introduced from 15 March to 6 April.

- We have to adapt to the fact that we have a virus that spreads much faster and easier.

That is why I want to put extra emphasis on how important it is to follow these recommendations and keep these real distances, says Mäkitalo.

Whether these recommendations have had an effect or not is difficult to say, says Signar.

- On the other hand, we have seen that the use of mouth guards in public transport in Eskilstuna has increased from 19 to 38 percent and then goes down to 33 percent.

But I think they have had an effect, he says.

Here are the new recommendations in brief:

• Everyone in a household is recommended to be at home if you have covid symptoms.

• Everyone in a household should stay at home for a week if someone in the household has confirmed covid-19.

• The principal for schools must ensure that adults are able to keep a distance of 2 meters in the school premises.

• All business owners are encouraged to ensure that those who work and visit the stores follow the advice to reduce infection.

In the clip above, you can hear the infection control doctor Signar Mäkitalo tell you more about what the new advice means.
