Berlin (dpa) - In Schleswig-Holstein, the football season 2020/21 will be discontinued in all game and age groups.
The presidium of the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association decided on Wednesday in an extraordinary meeting.
Accordingly, there should be a «Derby Cup» as an alternative if the current season is canceled.
The competition with a “strong regional touch” should start on a voluntary basis, if the situation allows competitive games by different teams again.
The point games played so far in all age and game classes are canceled, there are no promoted or relegated players.
The divisions of the 2020/21 season will be adopted for the coming one.
Teams that are promoted to the regional leagues are excluded.
"Procedures for determining promoters in the regional leagues are developed by the responsible committees, taking into account the teams interested in promotion," said the association's announcement.
"We want to take the pressure off our clubs and at the same time offer them the opportunity to return to an attractive form of competition as quickly as possible - with many derbies, short distances and the joy of returning to the football fields," said SHFV Vice President Spielbetrieb Sabine Mammitzsch.
Individual friendly matches outside of the new competition are also still possible.
