Munich (dpa / lby) - In the collective bargaining conflict in the metal and electrical industry, IG Metall in Bavaria is tightening its thumbscrews: the union called for warning strikes in 59 companies on Thursday.

The regional focus is Nuremberg, where metal workers in 28 companies are supposed to finish their work two hours earlier at 12 noon.

"The late shift at Audi in Ingolstadt will also end earlier in the evening, accompanied by actions at the factory gates," announced IG Metall.

It would be the biggest warning strike day in Bavaria since the end of the peace obligation on March 2nd.

This shows the willingness of the employees to «fight for stable incomes and secure jobs», emphasized IG Metall district chief Johann Horn.

He wants to speak to employees from Linde Material Handling and two other companies at a rally in Aschaffenburg at noon.

The union demands four percent more wages for the nationwide 3.8 million employees - where things are going badly in a company, in the form of a four-day week with wage compensation.

After a zero round this year, employers will not offer wage increases until next year and demand automatic deviations from the wage level for weaker companies.

The Association of the Bavarian Metal and Electrical Industry had criticized: "If companies are now on strike that are happy about every order, then it completely contradicts the goal of job security expressed by IG Metall."

After four rounds of negotiations without rapprochement, the bargaining parties in Bavaria agreed on a “pause for reflection” at the end of February.

There is not yet a new negotiation date.

Around 840,000 people work in the metal and electrical industries in Bavaria.

IG Metall Südwest had already emphasized that the union could continue the warning strikes for weeks.

On Thursday in Nuremberg, employees at MAN Truck & Bus, Siemens, Siemens Energy, Robert Bosch, Vitesco, ZF, Bosch-Rexroth, Diehl Aerospace, BSH Hausgeräte, Leoni and other companies are supposed to call it a day at 12 noon.

At the main Audi plant in Ingolstadt, the late shift should end at 8.45 p.m.

In Munich, actions are planned at Krauss Maffei Wegmann, Siemens Mobility Robert Bosch, in Regensburg at Vitesco, Continental and Siemens.

In Augsburg at Kuka.
