Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Eintracht Frankfurt does not want sports director Fredi Bobic to go free in the summer.

The supervisory board of the Hessian Bundesliga club refused Bobic on Wednesday the early termination of his contract at the end of the season.

The committee pointed out to the 49-year-old that "his board contract will run until June 30, 2023 without any possibility of termination or exit," the association said.

Bobic had confirmed this and declared that "he will behave in accordance with the contract and will accordingly comply with his contract".

However, a farewell to the former professional, who has held the post since 2016, is not yet finally off the table.

The chairman of the supervisory board, Philip Holzer, was unanimously authorized by the committee to «negotiate the conditions for an early termination of Fredi Bobic's management board contract» if another club should be interested in a commitment from the Frankfurt sports board.

Recently it was speculated that Bobic could switch to Hertha BSC.
