The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released Tuesday new footage of a man suspected of planting homemade bombs in Washington on January 5, on the eve of the storming of Congress, in the hope of collecting information leading to his identification.

The published video shows footage of the suspect captured by surveillance cameras in several neighborhoods of the US capital.

The man appeared to be wearing black pants, but his face was still covered by a hood and a muzzle he used to wear and sunglasses, and he was wearing gloves and carrying a backpack in his hand.

And the FBI previously published pictures of the suspect, which showed especially the sneakers that he was wearing, and offered a reward of one hundred thousand dollars to anyone who provides information leading to his arrest.

It is suspected that the man planted homemade bombs near the centers of the Republican and Democratic parties near the headquarters of Congress, and the bombs did not explode, and that their purpose may be limited to keeping the Congressional police away before the storming.

"We believe that no one, somewhere has information, has yet to realize its importance," said Stephen Dantuno, deputy director of the FBI. He emphasized that these homemade bombs were "real canisters that could explode and cause serious injury and death."

Thousands of supporters of then-US President Donald Trump attacked the Congress headquarters on January 6, coinciding with the confirmation session that his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, won the presidential elections.

Five people were killed in the attack, which was increasingly suspected of being spontaneous, and more than 300 people were arrested for their participation in the congressional storming.
