Morocco: 4 million people received the Corona vaccine

The Moroccan Ministry of Health announced that more than four million people have received the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine, as part of the vaccination campaign that the Kingdom launched at the end of January.

As part of measures to prevent the Coronavirus, Morocco suspended, on Monday, flights with Poland, Finland, Greece, Lebanon and Kuwait, according to the National Airports Office, which brings the number of countries covered by air restrictions to 26.

Morocco has recorded 486,833 cases of Covid-19 since the first case was detected in the country in March 2020, including 8,695 deaths, according to the official toll.

The state of emergency in effect in the country was extended from March 2020 to April 10, and a night curfew was imposed until mid-March.

The kingdom closed its borders, but flights are in effect.

The Moroccan vaccination campaign targets all persons over the age of 18 years, or about 25 million people, with the aim of "a gradual return to normal life."

In the Moroccan vaccination campaign, the British "AstraZeneca" vaccine and the Chinese "Sinopharma" are used, but according to local media, the Kingdom is seeking to provide additional vaccines, such as the Russian "Sputnik-V" and "Johnson & Johnson" the American.

Currently, the number of additional infections recorded per day is more than 500, indicating a decrease in the spread of the pandemic in Morocco, noting that the frequency of infection detection examinations decreased.

The health crisis had catastrophic repercussions on the country's economy, and the unemployment rate rose to 11.9 percent in 2020, compared to 9.2 percent in 2019, after successive dry seasons exacerbated the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic.
