Two afternoons a week, the library manager Pernilla Tomasson wants Gamlegården's library to only be open to children.

This is at the request of children who have participated in activities at the library, according to her.

- We feel that children and young people are a target group to work with.

We will have different activities - image and form, drama, creation - and when the library is closed to others, we have a larger space to move around and there will be no gangs and messes or just be here.

Pernilla Tomasson also says that by putting more focus on children, they want to contribute to them having a more meaningful leisure time.

- That they should find their offer in order to then be able to get involved in an association or move on with an interest.

I want us to have children and young people who see an opportunity for a good future.

Pernilla Tomasson continues:

- There is a great collaboration with many other actors in the area as well - so that we can work with the whole in the area, the problems that exist but also opportunities.

There are many good forces here and they are the ones we want to work to strengthen.

The Culture and Leisure Administration's proposal to permanently adjust the opening hours from this autumn will be discussed at the Culture and Leisure Committee's meeting on 11 March.

In the video, you can hear what Pernilla Tomasson thinks about the proposal being shorter opening hours for the library for the public.
