A new sharing service has been controversial in China, a'sharing economy paradise', such as shared cars and shared bikes, shared chargers, and shared washing machines.

Recently, an advertising sign with'Shared Cat' appeared in a building in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China.

On the signboard there is a phrase saying, "Take your cat home for 9.9 yuan a day (about 1,700 won)."

According to Chinese media such as the Hongxing Newspaper and the Global Times, this advertisement was carried out in a pet store.

Inside the store, there were 10 shared cats along with a pet for sale.

Depending on the type of rental, you will need to pay a deposit of over 1,200 yuan (about 200,000 won) to 10,000 yuan (about 1.7 million won), and you will need to submit an ID card and a picture of your home environment.

I made sure to buy the food at the store, but this was because if you suddenly changed the food, you would have an adverse reaction such as diarrhea.

"All shared cats are currently rented," said the store owner. "All shared cats are used to serving at home, so it's okay to change their living conditions frequently."

When the'Shared Cat' service became a hot topic on Chinese SNS, some netizens expressed concern and criticism, saying, "How can I rent my life?" and "What should I do if a strange person takes me?"

Chinese media cited experts and reported that cats, such as renting and sharing, can have negative effects on animals such as stress and frustration.

Earlier in 2017, a pet store in Shenzhen, China, offered a cat rental service for 39.9 yuan a day.

In the same year, a business plan was also released, saying, "We will deliver one cat every week for 99 yuan per month in collaboration with the pet adoption agency."

However, due to the opposition of the Aimyo people, the store was closed, and the plan was not realized.

In fact, the store in Chengdu, which changed its name from'rental' to'share', was also reportedly closed after controversy.

For reference, it is known that the pet rental service first appeared in the United States around 2007.

It was a service that lends dogs to people who do not have enough time to care for their dogs or do not have enough space to keep them.

Related services have also started in Korea since 2009.

Since then, there has been controversy over “helping to reduce stray dogs” and “it is an unethical act,” and in 2017, the National Assembly revised the Animal Protection Act and included'rental of animals for profit' as punishable abuse. .

However, pet rentals are continuing, and in December last year, the Civil Organization Animal Freedom Alliance accused the police of lending dogs and cats at a cost of 30,000 won a day.
