Wolfhagen / Kassel (dpa / lhe) - Unknown people illegally disposed of around 300 old tires on a field path in Wolfhagen in the Kassel district.
The police assume an environmental crime, as they announced on Tuesday.
The Kassel criminal police took over the investigation.
According to the information, the police learned of a pile of tires on the dirt road on Saturday.
When exactly the 300 tires were parked is unclear, it said.
The officers discovered tire tracks near the site.
They suspect that the vehicle involved in the crime was a pickup truck.
The illegally disposed of tires are mostly older specimens, it said.
The criminal police are now investigating for “unauthorized handling of waste”, which is punishable by imprisonment of up to five years or a fine.
