The former president, and so far the party's most popular candidate for the 2024 election, has said he refuses to allow the party to use his name when it comes to fundraising.
And above all, he called on his base to no longer give the party a penny, but to pay donations to him directly.

It's an almost offensive statement that looks like his old tweets.
"
More money for those who have no Republican in name!"
"Donald Trump asked, Monday, March 8, his base, made up of a majority of Republican voters, to pay all their donations to his organization, called" Save America "- and no longer to the classic organizations of the party.
A tactic that he knows well, and of which he knows the success: after the results of the presidential election, he called for donations to fight against "
a fraudulent election
" according to him.
And he had thus raised 255 million dollars - 215 million euros, in eight weeks!
Donald Trump certainly predicts similar success in fundraising in the future, and is unwilling to share this windfall.
Republicans countered that they had the right to use his name under the First Amendment, which guarantees free speech for political speech, and will continue to do so.
This illustrates well the growing tensions between the
Great Old Party
and the former president - which some will find ungrateful since
it was thanks to the Republican votes that he was acquitted during his trial
, less than a month ago.
