Kaiserslautern (dpa / lrs) - A man from Kaiserslautern was tricked by fraudsters while trading in digital currencies.

The 36-year-old suffered several thousand euros in damage, the police said on Tuesday.

Accordingly, the man already had a Bitcoin account.

Last week, according to the police, he received several calls from an alleged "trading center".

Employees informed him that he still had cryptocurrencies available on various accounts and that they wanted to pay them out to him.

The 36-year-old opened a new Bitcoin account for the transfer and released his computer for remote access.

But instead of receiving the promised payout, according to the announcement, his real bitcoins were transferred to a third-party account.

The man filed a complaint, the police are investigating.

In the field of digital currencies, false investment platforms are widespread, warned the police.

Cyber criminals took advantage of the victims' ignorance and transferred money to their own accounts abroad.

Similar to online banking, sensitive data should not be disclosed and no remote access to the computer should be granted.
