Edmonton (AP) - Ice hockey superstar Leon Draisaitl has ended his series of eight goalless games and is still on the playoff course in the North American NHL with the Edmonton Oilers.

With his goal to make it 3-1 in the meantime, the Cologne native paved the way to victory in the German duel with Tim Stützle from the Ottawa Senators.

The talent only managed to score 3: 2.

Draisaitl's teammate Dominik Kahun is still on the list of injured players and was not used.

The two clubs will meet twice more until Saturday.

In the current season, the Oilers have decided all five games for themselves.

While they improved to second place with 32 points, the Senators remain the bottom of Canada's North Division.

Two places ahead of that are Marc Michaelis and the Vancouver Canucks.

They fought their way to a 2-1 win after a shootout.

Bo Horvat converted the decisive attempt, Michaelis remained without a shot on goal in eight minutes of ice time.

Philipp Grubauer suffered a surprising defeat with the Colorado Avalanche.

The Denver team lost 3-2 at home to the Arizona Coyotes.

Due to the shock, Colorado was overtaken by the Minnesota Wild and Nico Sturm.

They prevailed 2-0 against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Attacker Sturm did not collect a scorer point.
