Schwerin / Berlin (dpa / mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has only called up a fifth of the federal funds for expanding childcare services, according to the CDU Bundestag member Eckhardt Rehberg.

“The childcare financing investment program has exactly 21,250,126.99 euros in our country for the years 2017 to 2020.

Only 4,666,882.07 euros were called up.

That means 78 percent of the money was not implemented ”, calculated Rehberg in a message distributed on Tuesday.

A further 17.5 million euros would be available for the follow-up program, of which 2.2 million had been approved so far.

"So it is to be expected that the misery described will continue," said Rehberg.

The head of the Union parliamentary group and chairman of the CDU regional group in the Bundestag had previously accused the Schwerin Ministry of Transport for not calling up federal funds on time.

«Minister (Stefanie) Drese has apparently moved into a cabin in the sleeping car next to Minister (Christian) level.

Let's hope for our country that they get off there soon, don't forget the money under their pillows and don't miss the connecting train, ”explained Rehberg with an ironic undertone.

Both ministers belong to the SPD, which has governed Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since 2006 together with the CDU.
