Fürstenfeldbruck (dpa) - A gang of alleged gambling hall fraudsters with at least three suspects from North Rhine-Westphalia is said to have stolen more than half a million euros nationwide.

According to the information, they manipulated slot machines in various regions of Germany in such a way that they threw out money for no reason, the police in Upper Bavaria said on Tuesday.

According to the information, three suspected gang members had already been caught red-handed in Fürstenfeldbruck in Upper Bavaria in September 2020.

Two of them come from Dortmund, one from Upper Bavaria.

A little later, the police arrested another suspect in his Dortmund apartment.

According to the investigators' findings, employees of the gambling halls also helped in some cases by looking over the manipulation.

Two of the four suspects are still in custody, said a police spokesman: "According to the current state of the investigation, they are the main perpetrators."

A total of 14 people are being investigated.

"It still has to be checked how the individual involvement in the crime were," said the spokesman.

On February 25, investigators searched other homes of two suspects in Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.

The two are accused of providing the fraudsters with technical material and training them.
