Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia still needs time for a nationwide offer of at least one free corona rapid test per week and citizen.

Some cities and districts already have such an offer, but nationwide the infrastructure would first have to be created, said State Chancellery Minister Benjamin-Immanuel Hoff (left) on Tuesday after the cabinet meeting in Erfurt.

A network of test centers combined with test options in pharmacies, at doctors, in clinics or in public buildings is planned.

With the promise of free weekly rapid tests, the federal government has awakened expectations “which cannot yet be met.

The country cannot do magic, ”said Hoff.

The state government will give cities and districts support so that the promise will be kept.

There is an agreement with the German Red Cross (DRK) to provide the infrastructure for the rapid tests.

The municipalities should check whether voluntary fire brigades could also help.

“We now need a Thuringian test strategy.

Rhineland-Palatinate and other countries are leading the way, ”said Environment Minister Anja Siegsmund (Greens).

Hoff confirmed that vaccinations and tests are important prerequisites for gradually easing corona restrictions.

He appealed to the manufacturers of rapid tests not to turn the price screw in view of the great demand, but to offer them cost-covering "at comprehensible prices".

According to the minister, there will be a change of provider for the tests in schools and kindergartens at the beginning of April.

Tests for children - so-called spit or lolly tests - are also being considered.

Talks with trade unions as well as works and staff councils are planned for the coming week on tests in the economy.

Thuringia will rely on the Luca app for contact tracking, Hoff affirmed.

It is important that all health authorities in the Free State quickly use the software for digital tracking of corona infections.

"That should become mandatory."

The city of Jena sets standards.
