Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - On average, women in Hessen earned significantly less than men in the past year.

The income gap, the so-called gender pay gap, was 18 percent, as the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday in Wiesbaden.

The development in Hesse was thus in line with the national average.

In the past year, women earned an average of EUR 19.82 gross per hour, EUR 4.44 less than men (EUR 24.26).

March 10th is the international day of action for equal pay for women and men (Equal Pay Day).
