It is the corridor rooms that are overrepresented among the empty homes.

- Students today do not want to live with people they do not know.

Thus, we have a product that is not completely attractive, states Karin Jonsell, head of marketing and customer at KBAB.

The turnover in the corridor rooms is high.

It is common for students to live there temporarily, before they find permanent housing.

As a result, they can nevertheless fulfill a function for new students, says Karin Jonsell.

Those apartments are rented out

That KBAB's housing does not correspond to what is requested by the students is also confirmed by Chairman of the Board Andreas Pettersson (C).

- A lot of student apartments have been built in Karlstad, where the right product has been built and the apartments can be rented out.

Many in a regular queue

Demand for ordinary apartments remains high.

In addition, there are many who are in KBAB's regular housing queue.

- We have known about the empty homes for a while and must look more closely at how it can be remedied, says Andreas Pettersson.
