Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The free corona rapid tests announced by the federal government should be available shortly in pharmacies in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The test regulation has only been available since Monday, on the basis of which the necessary contract can now be concluded with the pharmacists' association, said Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) on Tuesday after a cabinet meeting in Schwerin.

The contract is about to be concluded.

In addition, the state decided to procure 250,000 rapid tests for the municipalities so that the test centers on site can also offer free rapid tests.

The federal government will ultimately pay for the tests, the state is making advance payments, Schwesig said.

Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) had announced that from March 8th every citizen can have a free Corona quick test done weekly.
