Berlin (dpa / bb) - The fourth to sixth graders are back to school in Berlin from today.

According to the Senate Administration for Education, the regulation also applies to the 5th and 6th grades at grammar schools.

The first to third grades have been back since February 22nd.

However, pandemic conditions apply.

This includes smaller study groups and the change between lessons in school with mask compulsory and online at home.

The gradual opening of the schools continues.

Other states such as Brandenburg opened primary schools for all classes in February.

In Berlin, it is planned that grades 10 to 13 will also receive alternating lessons from March 17th.

How it will continue for the 7th to 9th grades is still open.

Compulsory attendance still does not apply.

This means that parents who do not want to send their children to school for fear of contracting the coronavirus, for example, do not have to.

Teachers and other school staff in Berlin should be able to use corona rapid tests twice a week, which are made available free of charge.

"There are enough rapid tests in schools," said a spokesman for the education administration.

And in the meantime there have been appropriate training courses for some of the teachers so that these colleagues can test.

The daycare centers in Berlin should be open to all children again from Tuesday next week.

There should be a "care offer" of at least seven hours per day for all children.
