In Central Europe, there is currently a virus outbreak of the herpes virus EHV-1, also known as the abortion virus, which strikes hard on horses.

The infection has, among other things, led to the death of four horses during the international jumping tour in Valencia.

Prior to the Gothenburg Horse Show, several measures are therefore being introduced to make it infectious, both in terms of covid-19 and the horse virus, during the competitions.

Competition stop performed

Due to the outbreak, the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) has imposed a ban on competition in ten European countries until 28 March.

The Gothenburg Horse Show starts only three days later - but at the moment they are not worried that the eruption will affect the event or cancel it.

It has already been planned to hold the event digitally for the audience.
