Berlin wants to award a prize for food savers

Berlin (dpa / bb) - Berlin wants to publicly pay tribute to food savers in the future.

For the first time, such a prize is to be awarded on April 15, as the Senate Department for Consumer Protection announced on Tuesday.

The award is endowed with 5000 euros.

Individual citizens, initiatives, projects, associations and companies can apply to the Senate Administration for the prize against food waste by March 28th.

Senator Dirk Behrendt (Greens) said according to the announcement that it was a scandal how much good food ended up in the bin.

There are numerous projects in the capital that have declared war on ideas of waste.
