Alexander Sotov has worked for Amnesty International for over six years.

As a web administrator, he got acquainted with how the information logistics of a company is arranged, learned the activities of an NGO from the inside.

In 2019, Sotov left Amnesty International with a scandal.

The media then circulated a letter associated with his name, which contained accusations of inadmissibility in organizing criticism of his superiors and his own opinions from subordinates.

Despite the conflicted parting, Sotov, according to him, remains aware of what is happening in the company.

In an interview with RT, he announced his readiness to clarify the situation with Navalny and shared his point of view on what problems the world-famous organization faces today.

- Alexander, how could this have happened:

Amnesty

International

contradicts itself on the issue of Alexey Navalny with his status of a “prisoner of conscience”.

Why was the decision reversed?

- What happened once again testifies to a deep crisis in the organization's management, including ideological.

Everyone who is involved in Russia in this organization really wanted to give the status of a "prisoner of conscience" to Alexei Navalny.

- What do you mean "wanted"

?

In your opinion, was it just a subjective desire of a certain group of people?

- After 2014, the organization's management worked in such a way that there was no longer any internal opposition in it.

Everything was cleaned up there so that people would remain who are ready to race to guess the desires of their own curators in London (where the head office of the Amnesty international secretariat is located -

RT

) and to voice the position that they will sign.

  • RIA News

- Have you come across any other examples of Amnesty International's involvement

?

- For example, the Moscow office is staffed with people who are associated with street actions in Russia.

The qualification requirement (for candidates for the position. -

RT

) is the participation of a person in a particular political movement on the territory of Russia.

For example, media manager Alexander Artemyev is a former political activist with close ties to Navalny.

Russian researcher Oleg Kozlovsky is also a failed politician.

These are people who had political ambitions, and the curators found such a service for them.

They are ready to perform certain functions.

They are exclusively Russophobic cadres, and they are eager to carry out the orders that are dictated to them from the international secretariat in London.

- So, Navalny is recognized as a "prisoner of conscience."

It would seem that the deed is done.

Why does the organization return to this question again after a month?

- We sent inquiries from individuals.

They asked to confirm whether Navalny is really a "prisoner of conscience" in view of his statements of a racist and anti-emigrant nature.

The International Secretariat considered all this nonsense and decided that there was no need to answer.

But then the inquiries reached Amnesty UK, the British section of Amnesty International.

And in accordance with internal documents, acting according to the rules, they were forced to say that such a person (Alexey Navalny. -

RT

)

by virtue of his statements, he cannot be a “prisoner of conscience”.

- Why did the

British section of Amnesty International

 go against the international secretariat?

- Sections often perceive the secretariat as a parasitic structure that tries to impose its will.

The sections are really closer to the interests of the people who should be protected.

Otherwise, they will not be able to collect donations.

- The Amnesty International Secretariat has

stated that it will continue to support Alexei Navalny even after his status as a “prisoner of conscience” has been revoked.

Should we wait for their representatives in the colony where Navalny is serving his sentence?

Maybe they will bring him food, personal hygiene items?

- I do not know of such cases that people came with parcels.

They are not interested in the prison topic.
