Düsseldorf (dpa) - After the mask deals by two Union members in the Bundestag, the CDU parliamentary group in the Düsseldorf state parliament will impose its own code of conduct.

The parliamentary group announced that the decision was taken on Tuesday.

The two main actors in the affair about politicians with corona masks, the Mannheim CDU member of the Bundestag Nikolas Löbel and his CSU colleague Georg Nüßlein, left their parties on Monday.

Löbel also withdrew from the Bundestag.

NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet, as CDU chairman, condemned the misconduct of members of the Bundestag and demanded personal consequences.

"Integrity and decency, as Armin Laschet rightly demands for all CDU members of the Bundestag, are indispensable prerequisites for working as a member here in North Rhine-Westphalia," said CDU state faction leader Bodo Löttgen on Tuesday in Düsseldorf.

It was therefore decided to "introduce a separate set of rules for the CDU MPs in North Rhine-Westphalia."

"Paid advisory or mediation activities that are directly related to the mandate are to be excluded," said Löttgen.

To ensure compliance with the code of conduct, the parliamentary group will set up a compliance officer.
