A tenant steals 12 air-conditioning units from a villa before evicting

The Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance has ruled that a villa tenant must pay its owner 13,777 dirhams the value of 12 air-conditioner units that he stole before evacuating.

In the details, the owner of a property filed a lawsuit, demanding that a tenant pay him an amount of 100,000 dirhams in compensation for his theft of 12 air-conditioner units, in addition to the aluminum for the stair-holders, before the eviction of the villa owned by the plaintiff, and the defendant was convicted under a criminal judgment.

The court stated in the merits of the ruling that the case documents evidenced the defendant’s committing the crime of theft, except for the report of the delegated expert indicating that the plaintiff had not submitted any invoices or documents supporting his claims, and that the villa and the old possessions in it, indicating that the stolen value was before Depreciation amounts to 55 thousand and 108 dirhams, and its value after consumption is 13 thousand and 777 dirhams, and accordingly the court estimates the compensation that the complainant is entitled to at an amount of 13 thousand and 777 dirhams, with the defendant being obligated to pay the fees and expenses of the case.
