08 March 2021Twitter is working on a feature that would give users a short amount of time to rethink posting a tweet, even after hitting the send key.

The company confirmed the project to broadcaster CNN Business, explaining that the Undo button would allow subscribers to delete or edit a tweet before it is officially posted on the platform.

The feature was previously discovered by Jane Manchun Wong, an app developer, who posted a GIF on Twitter that showed a blue "unsubscribe" bar under the words "Your Tweet has been sent".

Being in the testing phase, it is possible that the novelty will not be released immediately, at least not to all subscribers, unless after an extended trial period, as is currently the case for Spaces, the audio rooms that aim to compete with the social ClubHouse.

With Undo, Twitter would listen to what users have asked for over the years, namely the fateful possibility of editing the text of a post, even after sharing.

This had generated some doubts among the employees, internal and external to the company, especially regarding the transparency of the contents but it is evident that, in this way, it is possible not to always delete the single tweet, rather to avoid that it contains information untrue, misleading or detrimental to community norms.

The feature resembles the existing recall tool in Gmail, which allows you to withdraw the sending of an email within 30 seconds of the original launch.

Last year, Twitter had anticipated, in a call with investors, the evaluation of a subscription service with exclusive options, including a button to cancel the post.
