08 March 2021A century of Astor Piazzolla.

The second edition of the Mediterraneo Radio Festival is dedicated to the hundredth anniversary of the birth of the great Argentine musician.

Ten appointments from 11 to 22 March at the Politeama di Catanzaro for Rai Radio 3 and proposed in streaming on the theater's facebook page.

On the opening night, "Duettango

feat

 Silvia Mezzanotte"

will be staged

, with Filippo Arlia on the piano, Cesare Chiacchiaretta on the bandoneon - Piazzolla's instrument of choice -, Giovanni Zonno on the violin, Enrico Corapi on the double bass, Salvatore Russo on the electric guitar , Roberto Rossi at Drums.

The voice is the fascinating one of Silvia Mezzanotte.

"Duettango" was born from an intuition of Filippo Arlia, and wants to be a tribute to

El Gato

(as Piazzolla was called for his skill and ingenuity), to the Argentine of Apulian and Garfagnine blood, who upset the rules with the introduction of new instruments usually excluded from the tango.

Duettango was awarded by the "Astor Piazzolla" Foundation of Buenos Aires with the "Piazzolla Award 2018" for the best record of the year.

The Festival promoted and supported by the "PI Tchaikovsky" Conservatory of Music of Nocera Terinese, in media partnership with Rai Radio3 and the contribution of Raffaele Cacciola's "Bartok" recording studios, has a program that ranges from classical music concerts to jazz, pop, up to popular music.

One concert a day will mark the event.

On Monday 15 March the viola by Simonide Braconi and the piano by Francesco allegra will be the protagonists.

The prestigious Trio di Parma will perform on Wednesday 17th. On Monday 22nd there will be a big closing with Javier Girotto's Saxophone and the Calabria Jazz Orchestra conducted by Carlo Cattano.
