Munich (dpa / lby) - The Archdiocese of Munich and Freising has completed a video series with more than 250 Bible texts in German sign language.

The films made it possible for deaf and hard of hearing people to deal with the texts and actively participate in the life of faith, announced the archdiocese on Monday.

The videos can be accessed on the Internet.

According to the archdiocese, the first film went online in March 2014.

In addition to the Gospels, the project includes texts for readings and for special occasions such as baptisms, weddings or funerals.

Signed comments and background explanations are also included.

The German Working Group for Evangelical Deaf Chaplaincy (DAFEG) is working on a children's sign Bible and is making the films available on its YouTube channel.

The finished videos include Bible texts about Christmas, about the Zacchaeus story or how Jesus blesses the children.

Further films, including the Passion and Easter stories, are planned.

There are similar projects for children and adults in other countries as well.
