"We will need a longer program."

This is what Piers Morgan, host of the popular morning program "Good Morning Britain", tweeted before Monday's broadcast.

Morgan, who was previously critical of Meghan Markle, claimed in the program that Markle "talked nonsense" in the famous Oprah interview when she claimed that the royal family, among other things, had expressed concern that the couple's son would have dark skin color in connection with her first pregnancy.

In the interview with Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which was broadcast on American television last night Swedish time, Megan Markle revealed that she felt isolated and alone during her time in the British royal family.

Strong reactions

During the interview, several other revelations emerged, including the couple's relationship with several members of the royal family, about the child they are expecting this summer and that it is a girl.

But it is the revelation about Markle's mental illness and allegations of racist comments that tops the British news sites.

According to the newspaper The Independent, the reactions from the population have been strong.

On social media, British citizens write, among other things, that they are "disappointed" and that the royal family "should be ashamed".

At the same time, parallels are drawn to Prince Harry's mother, Princess Diana, and how she was treated by the royal family.

"This rotten institution must be removed"

Several well-known names went out on Monday to support the couple, according to Reuters.

Among them are American tennis star Serena Williams and former tennis professional Billie Jean King.

The Republican group in Britain, which wants to abolish the monarchy, writes in a statement: "The monarchy has just suffered its worst crisis since the abdication in 1936. Whether for the sake of Britain or for the sake of the heirs to the throne, this rotten institution must go away."

Buckingham Palace has not yet commented on the duke's interview.
