It was on December 23 last year that the police shot a man to death in connection with his arrest at an address in Eksjö.

The police were suspected of a serious misconduct and were investigated by the special prosecutor's office.

Prosecutor Marianne Nordström is now finished with the investigation and has decided to close the preliminary investigation, reports P4 Jönköping.

The policeman is said to have told in interrogation that the man got hold of his baton and hit him with it.

Police have stated that he believed the man would kill him.

The policeman then fired his service weapon at a distance of 1.5 meters.

The prosecutor has assessed the police officer's actions as self-defense.
