Even before there was a concrete proposal on the table, a heated debate started - last week the Healthcare Party warned that Sollefteå Hospital would be reduced to a health center if the plans to remove respiratory care were implemented.

Healthcare has long been run with large deficits and when Lena Carlsson, the then head of administration, presented her proposals in early September 2020, she outlined that 474 million needed to be withdrawn - in two years.

In 2021 alone, ie this year, just over 190 million would be saved.

Strong criticism - the region had to start over

Lena Carlsson's proposal aroused strong criticism, not least from those responsible for healthcare.

In addition, so far they had not delivered what they promised - previously clubbed measures landed far from the goals.

For 2020, the forecast said that healthcare would meet a maximum of one third of its savings requirement.

The region had to take over, and a consulting company was brought in to help develop new proposals.

At the same time, there were changes in heavy posts in the region when both a new regional director and a health and medical director stepped in.

New proposal - with old title

Today, the finished proposals are presented - with a heading that has been used a number of times in recent years -

to get the economy in balance.

Now a - I guess - stormy journey awaits until the regional council in April will take a position on all the measures.
