Although much has happened since Göran Fredrik Göransson started what became today's Sandvik, there is still a lot to do when it comes to equality.

- An important part of this is to get more women who enter the industry and preferably with us at Sandvik.

But the project with Almi does not aim for us to recruit all potential female talent in Gästrikland to us, but this is important from a societal perspective, says Sandvik's HR director Johan Kerstell who is one of the people responsible for the initiative.

Helsinge girls

The inspiration for the initiative is the network "Helsingejenter" which started about six months ago.

- We have a higher proportion of well-educated women in Hälsingland, but when it comes to the proportion of managers, men still dominate.

And then you can think that by strengthening women in their careers, maybe we can get increased growth, says Ida Mörtsell who was the one who took the initiative for Helsingejenter.

One of those who has entered the role of mentor is Stina Lilja:

- I have worked in the communications industry for 25 years so I thought that if there is someone who needs a little support, I can happily share my experiences.

And her adept Sara Stålberg seems satisfied:

- Me and my mentor are in the same industry, so it has been very helpful both as a sounding board and support.

On Friday, March 12, the mentoring program Women's Careers will begin to receive applications.
