Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, mandatory attendance at schools is to be expanded again.

According to State Education Minister Bettina Martin (SPD), it will also apply to schools in regions with a seven-day incidence between 50 and 100 from March 22nd.

"Simply because we believe that it has to be school," said State Education Minister Bettina Martin (SPD) on Monday evening in a conversation with the "Schweriner Volkszeitung" broadcast on the Internet.

In the past few weeks you have seen: "There are children who don't come where you think they should come too."

From March 22nd, there will be more face-to-face classes again in counties where the number of registered new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants is between 50 and 100 within a week.

There should be regular operation for grades 1 to 6 and face-to-face teaching in alternating classes for the grades above.

This had already been possible in Rostock and the Vorpommern-Rügen district since Monday, because the incidences here were consistently below 50.

Martin also announced that the video function in the learning management system “itslearning” will be activated on Wednesday: “From Wednesday, video conferencing will also work”.

About 72 percent of schools in the country would have access to the platform.

The data security is given.

The country introduced the itslearning platform last year.

Students and teachers can communicate via this.

In addition, teaching material can be made available and accessed there.

The missing video function had previously caused criticism.
