On the other hand, State Department spokesman Ned Price renewed his call for the Houthis to show their willingness to engage in a political process to achieve peace in Yemen.
Price considered the Houthi attacks as not the work of a group serious about peace, and described the attacks as "unacceptable" and endangering civilians.
Battles for Marib
These statements coincide amid raging battles in the Marib governorate, where the Houthis are launching a major attack, and in this context Houthi media said that the Saudi-Emirati coalition launched 23 raids on sites in Marib during the past 24 hours.
For his part, the governor of Marib, Sultan Al-Arada, said that the Houthis are launching a comprehensive attack on the city of Marib, the center of the governorate, from 3 axes, indicating that government forces are responding to the attack, backed by tribesmen and coalition fighters.
The governor explained, in a video conference, that the coalition fighters made a difference in the battles, after the Houthis showed superiority through heavy and armored vehicles.
The Yemeni official pointed out that the Houthis took advantage of Saudi Arabia's withdrawal of its forces from Marib, and the UAE's withdrawal of the Patriot air defense system.
