Schkeuditz (dpa) - After opening its air freight center at Leipzig / Halle Airport, Amazon is planning another location in nearby Schkeuditz.

The mail order company announced on Monday that a distribution center is expected to go into operation in the fall of this year.

120 jobs are to be created.

Parcels from Amazon's logistics centers will arrive at the distribution center and local delivery drivers will pick them up.

Amazon is working with independent suppliers who in turn employ 150 drivers.

They bring the goods to the customers.

Amazon Air opened its first regional air cargo center in Europe at the airport in November 2020.

The company uses a newly built 20,000 square meter cargo facility with direct access to the apron.

The new distribution center in Schkeuditz is to be almost 9500 square meters.
