Last year, the three emergency services received over 1800 support calls, which was an increase compared to the previous year when the number of support calls was just under 800.

Through the conversations, they could see that sexual violence increased with the pandemic.

- It can be anything from the girls being controlled by their partners to being beaten and exposed to physical violence, says Sanna Eriksson, operations coordinator of the youth shelter Fria.

- We have also seen an increase in sexual violence that takes place online, says Agnes Henriksson, head of the girls' shelter Mira.

For young girls

The campaign will be carried out on the emergency services' various social media and above all target young girls to increase their knowledge about sexual violence and that there is help available if you are exposed.

- In this way, more people get to know that they have been exposed to it, not everyone knows that, says Sanna Eriksson.
